Pathways: HAS Faculty Show unveils the latest creations from the esteemed faculty of the Hartford Art School. The artwork, while diverse in materials, subject matter, and style, represents a collective commitment to curiosity, process, and making. From porcelain to woodcut prints and even augmented reality, the exhibition paints a rich portrait of the multiple creative realms explored by HAS faculty members. In many cases, the work engages ideas that expand beyond art to touch on fields of study as varied as literature, science, social systems, and psychology. Including full-time, part-time, and visiting faculty from the past two years, the exhibition celebrates the many talented minds that shape the educational experience at the Hartford Art School.
This year’s exhibition was organized by eight students from the spring 2024 Art History Internship class. The students chose the title Pathways to evoke how the faculty’s artistic practices intersect with their role as educators at the University of Hartford. Through research and interviews, the students gained insight into the varied backgrounds, perspectives, and journeys that led these artists to a career focused on education. In the exhibition wall labels, the students’ share their interpretations of each faculty member’s unique pathway.
